Polyporus, Umbrella Polypore

Polyporus, in English umbrella polypore, can be found in our forests. It groes in tufts, often around old trunks of oak and beech. It is also enjoyed as an edible mushroom.

It was first mentioned 2000 years ago in ancient Chinese books.

The umbrella polypore is rich in vitamins (vitamin A, several B vitamins, provitamin D) and minerals (calcium, potassium, iron, manganese, copper and zinc). It also contains fibre. Polyporus promotes a healthy water excretion and is often used to prevent hair loss.
