Agaricus Blazei Murrill, Almond Mushroom

The almond mushroom originally comes from the Brazilian rainforest. It is therefore the only medicinal mushroom that has only recently  come to wider public attention. Its health benefits were researched in the 1970`s by Brazilian and Japanese scientists. Today, the ABM is a highly valued mushroom in China and Japan too, where it is known as "himematsutake".
For the indigenous people, it is a popular edible mushroom.

The ABM contains valuable vitamins (B2, B3, B7, B9 and Ergosterol, a precursor of vitamin D), minerals (calcium, potassium, zinc, iron, copper and magnesium), polysaccharides and amino acids. It also has the highest beta-D-glucan content of all medicinal mushrooms.
